Do PA Students get specific Training in Malpractice PreventionBy
That is a question I do not know the answer to. I was reading this article from the Wall Street Journal entitled : “What the Doctor Missed”
by Laura Landro. Analysists are trying to look at how mistakes happen – like both a specialist and primary care doctor getting the same abnormal result report and each thinking the other will follow up. I am trying to teach my patients to sign up for a free service that allows me to send them lab results with a message in a HIPPA compliant way. What is routine in your center? How do you learn to follow up with patients?
I have been around long enough to remember when no PA’s had ever been sued for malpractice. Those days are long gone.
So I am asking you students and recent graduates, what do you learn about this? If any experienced graduate PA’s out there are reading this, please weigh in with your opinoins!
I value what each of you has to say. Please leave your ideas and feelings and stories in the comments section below. If you like the comment discussion, use one of the links to boost this article on the social networks like StumbleUpon or Twitter or your favorite. Thanks.
